Lake Erie Golf Cars was recently approached about being part of a very special cause for a very special person. When we heard about it, we couldn’t contain our excitement and eagerness to be a part of it. You can see the story about it on ABC’s website. Read more below about the cause and the golf cart.

One of our sales members, Jay Powell, was contacted by the Make-A-Wish foundation with a request from a little girl named Lola Kaufman. “She was born with an extremely rare condition called Zellweger Spectrum Disorder. That disorder carries a wide range of challenges, including hearing, sight, cognitive and mobility.” - abconyourside.com

The idea was to help Lola and her family enjoy the outdoors together, as well as provide her with sensory stimulation.

Lake Erie Golf Cars set out to do what we can to make this golf cart a reality. They needed a sale for the golf cart, so Lola herself assisted with the design. What makes the design special are the zebra stripes. These are used as a symbol for rare diseases to bring awareness. There are bright pink accents throughout the golf cart which provide a great contrast to the zebra stripes.

A very special modification was made to this golf cart. Lola needed a way to sit in the golf cart safely, so our custom tech, William Morley, was able to mount one suitable for her. But that wasn’t enough. In order to help with her sensory stimulation, another steering wheel was added to her side for her to assist the driver. Of course it is a play steering wheel, but it lights up and makes sounds to provide more entertainment while she takes the wheel.

The golf cart began as a used 2018 E-Z-GO RXV, before it was stripped to the frame and rebuilt from the ground up. Custom paint was added to suspension components to finish the look. Headlights and taillights are standard on the majority of our golf carts now. This golf cart was also fitted with seat belts, a rear view mirror, turn signals, brake lights, and a horn so it can be used in their community.

Please share this to help raise awareness. We appreciate you taking the time to read it.
